Liquids & Food Combining
Liquids

For good health, Drink large quantities of liquids. Water, fruit and vegetable juices (fresh is best), and herbal teas.

For best health the majority of it should be water.
(The new rule of thumb for how much water to drink is…take your body weight and divide it in ½. And that’s how many oz. you should be drinking per day. For instance, if you weight 100 lbs. then you should be drinking 50 ozs. per day.) Also, you should know, any drinks with caffeine, alcohol, or carbonation are dehydrating. So for each glass of one of those drinks you need to ADD an EXTRA glass of water!

If you need a little MORE incentive to be drinking your water, it has been said that one of the major contributors to "old age” symptoms, such as thin skin, wrinkle, and poor circulation is due to us not drinking enough water over the years and slowly start to dehydrate our bodies.

The best type of water is water that has been purified by reverse osmosis.

For best digestion, don’t drink ANYTHING with the meal, it waters down the digestive juices.

Food Combining and Proper Amounts

Try to avoid combining starches and proteins, due to the fact that proteins digest at a slower rate than carbohydrates. Also, the enzymes that digest proteins are different than those which digest carbohydrates. Improper food combining can lead to complications in the digestive system. (Yes, that means no meat & potatoes together. I know..right?)

To ensure proper food combining, you should select 75 percent of your daily food intake from alkaline-forming foods and 25 percent from acid-forming foods.

Alkaline-forming Foods:

  • All green vegetables
  • All fruits, except citrus
  • Vegetable juices
  • Fruit juices, except citrus
  • Goat’s milk
  • Raw honey
Acid-Forming foods:

  • Eggs
  • cheese
  • sugar
  • cereal
  • breads
  • meat
  • fish
  • chicken
  • citrus & citrus juices

Food Combining Chart

Most of us are lucky enough to "get away with” eating most kinds of foods combined with any other kinds of foods. But there are many that have various difficulties in digesting their foods properly. It is suggested that for proper digestion everyone should try to follow proper food combining and also taking digestive enzymes. Enzymes do so much more than just help us digest our food properly.

So if you are having any digestive issues or bloatiness start by cutting out soy products. (Soy products can be difficult on the digestion and can cause bloatiness) If that doesn’t work, try proper food combining for a while.
